Adaptation of water resources management under climate change

چکیده
The rapid growth of demand in agricultural production has created water scarcity issues worldwide. Simultaneously, climate change scenarios have projected that more frequent and severe droughts are likely to occur. Adaptive resources management been suggested as one strategy better coordinate surface groundwater (i.e., conjunctive use) address droughts. In this study, we enhanced an aggregated resource tool represents integrated agriculture, water, energy, social systems. We applied the Yakima River Basin (YRB) Washington State, USA. selected four indicators system resilience sustainability evaluate adaptation methods associated with adoption behaviors alleviating drought impacts on agriculture under RCP4.5 RCP 8.5 scenarios. analyzed characteristics methods, including greenhouses, crop planting time, irrigation technology, managed aquifer recharge well alternating supply dynamics overcome impact. results show conditions consecutive require financial natural achieve well-implemented strategies. Water resources, climate change and human vulnerability
It is well recognised today that climate change is affecting the Earth’s physical and biological systems, and is expected to do so on forthcoming decadal to century timescales. A need exists for useable predictions of the impacts associated with such climate change, and the likely societal responses to these. This must also be seen in the context of other drivers of global change, and be presen...
متن کاملClimate change and global water resources
By 2025, it is estimated that around 5 billion people, out of a total population of around 8 billion, will be living in countries experiencing water stress (using more than 20% of their available resources). Climate change has the potential to impose additional pressures in some regions. This paper describes an assessment of the implications of climate change for global hydrological regimes and...
متن کاملClimate change, water resources and child health.
Climate change is occurring and has tremendous consequences for children's health worldwide. This article describes how the rise in temperature, precipitation, droughts, floods, glacier melt and sea levels resulting from human-induced climate change is affecting the quantity, quality and flow of water resources worldwide and impacting child health through dangerous effects on water supply and s...
متن کاملConjunctive surface water and groundwater management under climate change
Climate change can result in significant impacts on regional and global surface water and groundwater resources. Using groundwater as a complimentary source of water has provided an effective means to satisfy the ever-increasing water demands and deal with surface water shortages problems due to robust capability of groundwater in responding to climate change. Conjunctive use of surface water a...
